Treatment Philosophy

Every treatment plan begins with understanding the whole person — not just a diagnosis, but the full context of someone's life, history, and goals. In her Brookline, MA practice, Dr. Matskevich combines evidence-based psychiatry with genuine warmth, drawing on therapy, medication, and lifestyle together rather than relying on any single tool alone.

Her aim is always practical and personal: care that helps people understand themselves more clearly, function better day to day, and feel more like themselves again.

Services

Initial Phone Consult (15–30 mins): An opportunity for Dr. Matskevich to learn more about the patient and share information about the practice. Assistance with looking up out-of-network benefits is also available during this consultation. If Dr. Matskevich feels another provider may be a better fit, she is happy to offer a referral.

Intake Appointment (75 mins): The purpose of this appointment is for Dr. Matskevich to gain a bird's eye view of the patient's life and symptom history, and to understand where they are in that context. Treatment goals are established and a holistic plan is developed accordingly. That plan may or may not include medication. Available in-person in Brookline, MA or via telehealth.

Follow-Up Appointment – Medication Management (30 mins): Consists of reviewing whether medication continues to be indicated, how the patient is tolerating the medication, and whether they are finding it effective. Dr. Matskevich also discusses behavioral techniques that may be helpful for symptoms, as well as mindset alternatives that could be beneficial. Available in-person in Brookline, MA or via telehealth.

Follow-Up Appointment – Therapy +/- Medication (45 or 55 mins): For therapy, goals are evaluated on a session-to-session basis and to work toward those goals, Dr. Matskevich draws on both psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) techniques. Beyond specific goal-driven work, Dr. Matskevich also views therapy as a space for broader life management: a dedicated time each week to step back, consider the big picture, and reflect on where the patient currently is, where they want to be, and what that path might look like. For patients on medication, this appointment includes medication management as described above. Available in-person in Brookline, MA or via telehealth.

Dr. Matskevich is Out of Network

In order to provide the highest standard of care, Dr. Matskevich is out of network and does not accept any insurance. This is a deliberate choice. Insurance companies often limit the length and frequency of psychiatric visits, dictate treatment based on coverage rather than clinical need, and require diagnoses to be documented in ways that don't always serve the patient.

Practicing outside of that system allows Dr. Matskevich to offer longer appointments, more attentive follow-up, and treatment shaped entirely around each person rather than by the constraints of a billing code. Superbills are provided after each appointment to help patients seek reimbursement through their plan's out-of-network benefits. Dr. Matskevich also subscribes to Reimbursify, a service that can assist with out-of-network superbill submission and reimbursement tracking.
