Adult and Young Adult Psychiatrist Serving Boston and Surrounding Communities
Finding a psychiatrist in Boston who provides both therapy and medication management is harder than it should be.
Dr. Ashley Matskevich is a board-certified psychiatrist and Harvard Medical School faculty member in private practice in Brookline — one mile from the Boston city line, a 10-minute drive from the Back Bay, and accessible via the MBTA Green Line. She provides both therapy and medication management herself, with a 75-minute intake and appointments long enough to actually do both.

Welcome to My Practice
I didn't end up in Boston by accident. I came here specifically because it's one of the few cities in the world where neuroscience and psychotherapy are treated as genuinely complementary — where the academic rigor of Harvard and the clinical depth of its hospitals exist alongside a real culture of thoughtful, individualized care.
After more than a decade training, moonlighting, and practicing across Boston's medical institutions, I opened my own practice in Brookline — a short distance from the city, and a deliberate departure from the institutional model. Smaller. Slower. More time with each person. The kind of practice I always wanted to run.

About Dr. Matskevich
Dr. Matskevich's entire psychiatric career has been built in Boston. She trained in the Harvard Longwood program — rotating through Brigham and Women's Hospital, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Massachusetts Mental Health Center, and Boston Children's Hospital. She moonlighted in the Massachusetts state hospital system at Tewksbury and Taunton. She worked in a group practice in the Back Bay before opening her private practice in Brookline.
Today, she remains on faculty at Harvard Medical School today, teaching psychopharmacology and supervising the next generation of Boston psychiatrists. The referral network she has built across Boston's hospitals, therapists, and specialists is one she knows personally — built over years of working in the same clinical community.
Her approach to treatment is integrative and unhurried. She provides both psychotherapy and medication management herself, drawing on psychodynamic and CBT frameworks, and incorporates nutrition, sleep, and lifestyle into every treatment plan — informed by her MGH Certificate in Nutrition and Mental Health. She sees patients in person at her Brookline office and via telehealth across Massachusetts and New York.
Why Patients Choose Dr. Matskevich for Psychiatry Near Boston
You're Seeing a Physician, Not a Mid-Level Provider
Many psychiatric providers in Boston are nurse practitioners or physician assistants — skilled clinicians, but not physicians. Dr. Matskevich is a board-certified MD with full physician training, diagnostic scope, and the clinical depth that comes from a Harvard Longwood residency across four major academic medical centers.
Your First Appointment Is Long Enough to Actually Matter
Most psychiatry platforms that residents of Boston seek out run initial appointments at 30 to 45 minutes. Dr. Matskevich's intake is 75 minutes — the same via telehealth as in person. Enough time to understand your full history, arrive at a working diagnosis together, and leave with a real treatment plan.
Your Care Reflects What's Happening in Medicine Right Now
Dr. Matskevich currently teaches psychopharmacology and supervises resident psychiatrists at Harvard Medical School — meaning her clinical knowledge reflects what's being taught and practiced today, not a curriculum from a decade ago.
Psychiatric Care That Goes Beyond the Prescription
Dr. Matskevich holds an MGH Certificate in Nutrition and Mental Health from Massachusetts General Hospital — one of the few psychiatric credentials of its kind in the state. Sleep, movement, and nutrition are built into every treatment plan alongside therapy and medication, not offered as an afterthought.
